COVID-19 County Check
If you have a question about the current COVID-19 crisis, you can contact us at the email below.
Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPDs) are conditions caused by bacteria and viruses that can be prevented by vaccines. These diseases can cause long-term illness, hospitalization, and even death.
Examples of VPDs are: COVID-19, Whooping Cough (Pertussis), Chickenpox (Varicella), Measles, Meningococcal disease, and Pneumococcal diseases.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines vaccines as a preparation that is used to stimulate the body’s immune response against diseases.
Vaccines help the body create protective antibodies—proteins that help fight off infections. By getting vaccinated, you can protect yourself and avoid spreading preventable diseases to other people in your community.
Unvaccinated children are at increased risk of VPD like mumps, pertussis, and varicella.
